Stepping Out: A New Season of Ministry
Sometimes God gives you a vision long before He gives you the timing.
IH3 Designs has always been part of the plan. We just didn't know when God would use it.
The name In Your Hand Designs was born all the way back in 2003, from the story of Moses and the simple question God asked him:
"What is that in your hand?"
That question has stayed with us for more than two decades.
What has God already placed in our hands? What gifts, experiences, relationships, resources, and opportunities has He given us that could be used for His Kingdom?
We named IH3 Designs in 2003. We dreamed about what it might become. We used it here and there along the way. But the timing never seemed quite right to fully step into it.
Now, in 2026, we believe it is finally ready to fly.
When God Starts Stirring
In September 2025, we began sensing that God was calling us into something new. The problem was, we didn't know what "new" meant.
There wasn't a detailed plan. There wasn't a roadmap showing us exactly where we were going. There was simply a growing awareness that a season was changing and that God was asking us to trust Him.
So we prayed. We waited. We listened.
And this past August, we finally took the leap of faith.
For us, it has felt a lot like Peter stepping out of the boat. You can spend a lot of time making sure the boat is safe, calculating the waves, studying the wind, and trying to figure out exactly how walking on water is supposed to work.
Eventually, though, you have to put your foot over the side.
That's where we are.
After 12 years of ministry at Parkway Church in Phoenix, Arizona; 2 years at Princeton Church in Princeton, North Carolina; and 12 years at Tanglewood Church in Kinston, North Carolina, we are stepping into a new season.
More than 25 years of serving on church staffs has come to a close.
But ministry hasn't.
In many ways, we believe it is simply expanding.
Starting From Scratch...Sort Of
There is something intimidating about saying, "We're starting a business."
IH3 Designs is starting from scratch in a lot of ways. We're building something new. We're figuring things out. We're taking risks. We're trusting God to provide opportunities and connect us with the churches, ministries, organizations, and people we're supposed to serve.
But then again...
We're really not starting from scratch at all.
For more than 30 years, we've been working with churches and organizations to help accomplish ministry goals.
We've planned services, trained volunteers, developed systems, created graphics, built presentations, worked with technology, led worship, produced events, designed resources, solved problems, helped ministries communicate more effectively, and stepped into countless situations where someone simply needed another set of hands.
And we've discovered something along the way:
We love helping the Church do ministry.
This isn't simply something we decided might make a good business.
It's our love. It's our life.
We love walking into a ministry, listening to the people who are carrying the load, discovering what is making their work harder, and asking:
"How can we help?"
What's Making Ministry Hard?
That's really the heart behind IH3 Designs.
We know ministry can be incredibly rewarding. We also know it can be exhausting.
Sometimes you have the vision, but not the people.
Sometimes you have the people, but not the training.
Sometimes you know what you want to communicate, but you don't know how to design it.
Sometimes the website needs attention, the technology isn't working, the volunteers need training, the systems need rebuilding, the graphics need creating, and Sunday just keeps coming every seven days!
And sometimes you simply need someone who understands ministry to come alongside you and say:
"I can help with that."
That's what we want IH3 Designs to be.
Not just another company selling something to churches.
A ministry partner.
Someone who understands that every church is different. Every ministry has different resources. Every leader has different challenges. And sometimes the best place to begin isn't with a package or a price list.
It's with a conversation.
